Hallgate school has hot meals cooked each day in it's own kitchen by our dedicated team of kitchen staff.   Children have the opportunity to choose from a balanced and appetising hot dinner or baked potato each day. Menus are available for parents and children to view below.

All pupils in Key Stage 1 are entitled to a free hot school meal, as part of the Governments Universal Free School Meal initiative.

All pupils who are eligible for Pupil Premium are also entitled to a free hot school meal.

For all other pupils, meals cost £2.50 payable through Parent Pay (our online payment system).  Parents are asked to ensure their online payment account has sufficient balance to pay for each meal ordered.  Pupils can choose whether to have a hot school meal on a daily basis, those who do not wish to have a school meal may bring a healthy packed lunch.

Our kitchen staff are happy to accommodate a variety of dietary needs. If you require information concerning allergens contained in our food, this can be obtained from the school office.  Please advise the school if your child has special dietary requirements ie coeliac.  Although nuts are not used in our dishes, dishes may contain traces of nut or nut derivatives.

On occasions, it may be necessary to change the menu at short notice.  The office will aim to notify parents via text when this occurs.

East Yorkshire Food Bank

There has been a huge surge in demand for support from the East Yorkshire food bank this year many being families who have no previous experience of using a food bank or the benefits system. In the six months to September food  was distributed to feed 2,051 children and 2,887 adults. These figures are three times the number helped in the same period in 2019 and the trend is expected to continue.
