History
At Hallgate, our aim is that our teaching of History will help pupils gain a knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and of the wider world. We aim to help them understand changes, value their own and other cultures, and how the past influences the present. Our history curriculum aims to inspire our pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past, thinking about real people and real events. Through their work, pupils develop a chronological framework for their knowledge of significant events and people.
History lessons focus on developing historical skills and children working as historians. We intend for our children to have real life experiences, through theme days and events, and learn about history in an active and creative way. Links to Geography and other subject areas are also explored.
